While you may not see much of him, our Managing Partner Cam Harper plays an integral role in keeping our business running smoothly, and making sure we provide you with high-quality investment opportunities. Get to know more about Cam below.

How long have you been with SCP and how did you come to join the team?

I started at SCP in July 2019. When I joined, I was head of sales and marketing and I became managing partner about a year after that.

What do you do in your day-to-day role with SCP?

As managing partner, my role is wide and varied which I enjoy, no two days are ever the same. I’ll be doing anything from working on funding lines to loan appetite, IT and strategy.

We have a team of 32 people now and I try hard to support them to do their best work and in turn, we all work together to best support our customers to achieve financial freedom through specialist lending.

Tell us more about your life outside of SCP?

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, we have two teenage daughters, one is still at school and the other at university - which has been a big adjustment!

We are lucky to have a wide circle of friends and we are often catching up with them. Other than that, I’ll be cycling or running somewhere.

Quick fire five:

Favourite holiday spot: There are too many! I’ve been fortunate to have travelled to many parts of the world but as the saying goes, “there’s no place like home”. My wife and I made a conscious decision years ago to make sure our daughters saw New Zealand and we’ve had some epic holidays together all around the country. I’m always at my happiest when we are on a roadie somewhere.

Favourite food/recipe: Anything on the BBQ, nothing like having some mates over for a barbie and a catch up.

Favourite song or band: My friend always laughs at me because every second song seems to be my favourite! There’s always a radio going in our house, I was brought up on Elton John, Tom Petty and Dire Straits but having teenage daughters there’s often Taylor Swift, Fred Again or Kanye blasting too.

Favourite movie: The Blues Brothers, first watched it back in the early 80s and I never get tired of it.

Favourite quote: Very long story and a deeply personal one for a friend of mine but the quote is, “what if it could turn out better than you could possibly imagine”. Amazing.
