Get to know SCP’s Business Development Managers
At Southern Cross Partners we have a team of very talented people who go above and beyond for our investors and advisers.
Your key contacts in our lending team are our Business Development Managers (BDMs). They are based around the country helping advisers secure specialist property finance for their clients.
With our BDM team now well established, we thought we’d introduce them, so you can get to know a bit more about how they work and what they get up to outside of work.
- What regions in NZ do you look after for SCP?
- Simon Maule. Christchurch and the rest of the South Island.
- Michael Tresch. Nelson, Wellington and the lower North Island.
- Hend Salam. Auckland, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty.
- Nick Miller. Auckland, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty.
- How long have you been working in property finance?
Simon: I’ve been at SCP for nearly six months now and have over 20 years’ financial experience in Canterbury.
Michael: I’ve been with SCP for almost 20 years now. I’ve worked in the industry for just over 33 years, and I am still loving it.
Hend: I’ve been in property finance for almost five years. Prior to this, I was in banking for eight years.
Nick: I began my career in finance nine years ago when I was a part of the ASB Property Finance Unit.
- Why do advisers choose SCP over other non-bank lenders?
Simon: We like to make sure we respond to applications quickly and then keep things moving through fast turnaround times. We also have great rates and fees.
Michael: SCP prides itself on providing a first-class service to our clients. BDMs have the authority to approve loans, which streamlines the process. Brokers also know they will get a prompt answer on any applications they submit.
Hend: SCP’s approach is customer focused. We have fast turnarounds and user-friendly systems. I believe these are some of the reasons customers choose to use us.
Nick: SCP has fast turnaround times, communicates effectively, and is very customer friendly. We also have competitive prices and prioritise transparency.
- If there’s one thing you could tell an adviser who hasn’t worked with SCP before, what would it be?
Simon: We don’t have a cookie-cutter approach to lending policy. We understand how each proposal is unique. So, the best course of action for any potential client is to reach out directly. This allows us to find out about your situation and whether we can help. Once we have a better understanding, we can provide pricing in a timely manner.
Michael: Our team wants to work with brokers to get your clients loans approved.
Hend: We’re aware that each client’s scenario is unique. We consider this every time we provide a lending assessment, so we take a flexible approach, and enjoy workshopping deals with advisers.
Nick: We have a quick and hassle-free application process to keep things easy for brokers.
- What are your hobbies outside of work?
Simon. Rugby league is my passion. Outside of that, I love going to the gym, getting out in the garden, taking the dog for an adventure, and enjoying a cold beer with friends down at my local pub.
Michael. My hilly lifestyle property and three very active grandchildren keep me busy!
Hend. I love exploring various walking tracks. On the weekends I’ll often do Latin dancing too!
Nick. I love to stay active. Some of my favourite hobbies would be boating, fishing, surfing, and mountain biking.
- What is the easiest/best way to get in touch with you?
Simon. Feel free to drop me an email outlining your scenario (simon@scpartners.co.nz) or give me a call at 021 447 595.
Michael. I find phone calls more personal, and it’s easier to talk through the loan application in real time and field questions as they come up. I’m contactable on 027 421 9263 or michael@scpartners.co.nz
Hend. The best way to reach me is by calling or texting me on 021 447 926 or hend@scpartners.co.nz.
Nick. I am best contactable either by email (nick@scpartners.co.nz), text message (0274 219 263), or WeChat.
Between our BDMs, we cover most major centres in New Zealand. So, if you’ve got a loan that you think might be for us, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your local BDM or email loans@scpartners.co.nz.
