Get to know our investment team – Heather Kentsley
Southern Cross Partners’ investment team is made up of Heather, Simone, Ross, and Victoria who all thoroughly enjoy speaking to and helping our investors.
So, we thought it might be useful for you to get to know a bit more about us, your key team at SCP.
First up is Heather Kentsley our dedicated Investment Manager.
How long have you been with SCP and how did you come to join the team?
I joined SCP in June 2010 when my son Daniel had just started primary school, and now he’s almost 19, driving and studying, yet those early days seemed like just yesterday.
My journey in the finance industry started in 2000 when my husband Chris & I started our own business as mortgage brokers helping homeowners and investors with their property funding applications.
We specialised in non-bank lending, so our paths crossed regularly with Barry & Julia of Southern Cross Partners’ sister company, Southern Cross Finance (SCF), and it was their solid values and willingness to try and help people that resonated with me.
I was looking for a change after the global financial crisis, so joining SCF was a natural move when it needed someone to promote its new investment product. More than 13 years later I am extremely proud of the business we have built with an amazing team of people beside me.
What do you do in your day-to-day role with SCP?
Most days I am focused on ensuring we have the best stock available for investors, finding ways to improve our portal and systems, assisting our Managing Partner, Cam, on the leadership team, and working with our investment team Simone, Ross and Victoria as they support our investors.
However, what I love doing most is chatting with investors about our terrific company and amazing products.
What are you most excited about for 2024?
As 2023 comes to a close I am already looking forward to 2024 and the big plans we have for SCP. After a summer break with family visiting from overseas, hopefully harvesting my fledgling vegetable garden and trying not to fall off our new paddleboard, I will be energised for another year ahead.
